Spartans Win State Title

The Hughesville Boys Cross Country team made history on Saturday, November 6, when they brought home a state championship team title at the PIAA Class A boys cross country championships. This is the first state championship team in any sport in Hughesville that has won the title. The Spartans had two runners finish in the top-20 leading the way for Hughesville. Senior Morgan Gavitt took seventh 17:05.70, and senior Hunter Foust was 17th-place in 17:8.90. Gavitt’s time was just 29 seconds behind first-place finisher Thomas Smigo of Palisades. Hughesville senior Logan Long took 32nd in 17:59.70, Kenny Draper was 64th in 18:21.30, and Shea McCusker was a 77th-place finisher in 18:28.40.
