Hughesville’s Buck finishes runnerup

SINGLES-The District 4 girls singles tennis championships were held last Monday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center as the final match came down to Hughesville’s Sarah Buck and Jersey Shore’s Peyton Dincher. Dincher edged Buck winning 6-4, 6-4. Buck reached the finals beating Montoursville’s Kara Mann, the tournament’s two-seed, in the semifinals. Both Dincher and Buck qualified and will compete for this year’s state tournament at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Quarterfinals: Hughesville 3, South Williamsport 0-In the quarterfinals of the District 4 team tournament, Hughesville defeated South Williamsport, 3-0, as sophomore Sarah Buck took the first game of the match, winning 6-0, 6-0 in a two straight set sweep over Eve Jackson. Kylie Kilgore, No. 2 singles, also won her match in two straight set sweep (6-0, 6-0). Hughesville’s No. 3 Annaka Bruder won by a final set score of 6-1, 6-1. SINGLES 1. Sarah Buck (H) def. Destini Flowers/Breanna Bobak (H) led Olivia Jackson/Emma McLaughlin, 6-2, 6-0; 2. Georgia Randall/Maya Snyder (H) led Emily Holtzapple/Mia McNaul, 6-4, 3-2.
