Muncy wins semi’s, plays Canton Friday
The offensive and defensive lines both dominated the field Saturday night in the District 4 Class A semi-final game beating Northwest final 56-6 and will move onto the championship game Friday night to take on Canton. Braydon Bergey, Brayden Trostle, Gabe Stark, Ken Hampe and Eli Harris kept the pressure on Northwest’s defense allowing running back, Austin Johnson, to run through the holes. Johnson ran for 189 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Tight ends Lucas Gruver and Cameron Kamerer combined helped Muncy move the ball and win a playoff game for a fifth consecutive season. The Indians will host the championship game for the first time playing Canton for a fifth consecutive season. Quarterback Branson Eyer returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown, and the Indians had 54 points less than nine minutes into the third quarter. Elijah Weikle had 60 rushing yard and five carries including a touchdown as the offense totaled 910 rushing yards. In the air Ross Eyer had a a 30-yard touchdown late in the first half, and Johnson also caught a 31-yard pass on Muncy’s second scoring drive. Johnson reached his 20th touchdown in eight games.

Hughesville 12, Bloomsburg 3
The Spartans won their first playoff game since 2015 defeating the Panthers, 12-3, in the District 4 Class AA quarterfinals and will advance to the semis to take on No. 1 seed Mount Carmel. Keegan Smith kicked a 22-yard field goal in the second quarter for the game’s first points as a 3-0 lead and held onto the lead going into the third quarter. Bloomsburg tied it up following a 23-yard field goal with 2:57 remaining in the third.
The Spartans took back the lead in the fourth with a safety with 6:40 to play to go ahead, 5-3. Mason Hoppes then scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run with 2:20 to play in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
In the win Hughesville ran for 110 yards, and Aiden Barlett led Hughesville with 33 receiving yards on two catches. Hoppes had 37 rushing yards on 12 carries and a touchdown, Angelo Ferrigno ran for 29 on six attempts, Tyler Wetzel ran for 28 on four attempts and Barlett ran for 11 on two carries. Luke Kaiser went 6 for 17 passing for 77 yards for Hughesville.
