Hughesville 68, St. John Neumann 53

Hughesville became the first Lycoming County team in two years to defeat 2022 Class A state finalist St. John Neumann. Four players scored in double figures as the Spartans defeated the Knights, 68-53. Landen King scored a career-high 18 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds and dealt four assists. Josh Heiney had 16 points including three 3-pointers, Dylan Bieber scored 12 points with two-3-point shots, and Carter Cowburn finished with 11 points. The Spartans turned the ball over just four times over the final three quarters in the win.

Loyalsock 54, Hugheville 51

Loyalsock edged the Spartans last Wednesday night, 54-51. Both teams overcame six-point deficits at different points. Carter Cowburn scored 20 points for the Spartans. Dylan Bieber added 13 and Josh Heiney had 10 points in the loss.

Hughesville was defeated by Southern Columbia, 59-45. In the loss Carter Cowburn had a team-high eight rebounds and had two blocks. Josh Heiney had three assists, two steals and a block, and Landen King had four rebounds, a block and a steal.

Line Mountain 52, Montgomery 38

Parker Bennett scored 10 points and Hayden Wilt added nine in Montgomery’s 52-38 loss against Line Mountain.

Avery Bigelow produced a triple-double, scoring a game high 23 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and making eight steals as Muncy defeated Sullivan County, 36-14.

Loyalsock 47, Hughesville 42

The Spartans erased an 11-point late second quarter deficit and tied the game at 35 with 4 minutes, 30 seconds remaining, but Loyalsock edged Hughesville, 47-42. The Spartans forced 12 second-half turnovers and a steal and layup, along with a free throw, by Alli Anstadt, that tied the game in the fourth, 35-35. Anstadt finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Vivian Draper scored 7 points, had 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks; and Breanna Brobak added 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
