The area came away with numerous schools qualifying for the PIAA competitive spirit championships after Saturday’s District 4 finals in Shamokin.

In total, five of the six state qualifiers were from the area in Milton (Class AA small varsity), Montoursville (Class AA large varsity), Williamsport (Class AAA large varsity), Hughesville (Class AA small varsity) and Jersey Shore (Class AA small varsity).

In the large school competition in Class AA, Montoursville won with a score of 76.56, just edging out Mount Carmel (74.36).

Williamsport won the Class AAA large varsity title with a 72.32 score.

In the small varsity division, Milton won with an 81.03 score, followed by Hughesville (63.36, second), Jersey Shore (62.86, third) and South Williamsport (58.93, fourth). Canton took sixth (48.86).

In the co-ed varsity division, Warrior Run took the title (50.93).
