Muncy’s Johnson places second at Powerade tournament

Muncy’s Austin Johnson took home second-place in the 215 division at the Powerade tournament held on Saturday. In the semifinals Johnson defeated St. Joseph Regional’s Aidan Schlett of New Jersey by decision of 5-1 before being edged in the championship bout by Wyoming Seminary’s Jude Correa, 4-3.

Jim Thorpe Tourney

Hughesville Varsity wrestling team finished sixth out of 25 teams and had seven individual place winners at the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament. Place winners were: 1st place: Chase Shaner; 3rd place: Keagan Smith, Conor Knight; 5th place: Wyatt Gavitt, Mason Mordan; 6th place: Kile Hartman; 8th place: Luke Stutzman.

Muncy wins North Penn-Liberty Tournament title

Muncy 59, NPL 32-Noah Confer earned Tournament MVP honors after producing his fifth double-double this season and helping Muncy defeat the hosts, 59-32 to capture the North Penn-Liberty Tournament title for a second straight season. Confer produced a game-high 22 points, 13 rebounds and five steals a day after scoring a career-high 30 points

Spartans win 3rd straight tourney

Hughesville 61, Jersey Shore 47

Hughesville guard Jeff Fenstermacher scored 25 points and made six steals defeating Jersey Shore, 61-47, Saturday night to win a third straight championship in the Bill Babcock Tournament. Fenstermacher also hit 2 three-shot points, and Gage Thomas and Logan Kiess made one apiece in the win. Landen King was selected the tournament’s MVP.
