Muncy/Montgomery/Hughesville Area Senior Citizens: volunteers at the Senior Citizens Information Center at Muncy Valley Hospital provide information, forms and assistance with filing for services such as the PACE/PACENET prescription program, property tax and rent rebate, inexpensive transportation provided by Lycoming/Clinton transportation services and reduced fee auto registration. The Center is open every Thursday from 9:30 a.m.-12 Noon. For more information call (570) 546-4278.
The Muncy Hospital Auxiliary will meet on Monday, Nov. 17, in the multi-purpose room of the hospital. Coffee and dessert will be at 1 p.m., and the business meeting and election of officers will begin at 1 p.m. Please note the change of meeting place and times.
Fundraisers
A Charity Auction and a Buffet at the Clarkstown Fire Hall, on Saturday, Nov. 22. Doors open at 3 p.m. for viewing and bidding Fifty percent of the proceeds will benefit local and world hunger projects. A buffet style dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
The Hughesville Relay for Life committee will hold a kick off party Tuesday, Nov. 18, 6-8 p.m. at the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Hall.
The committee is celebrating the 10th anniversary of our relay event and the 25th anniversary of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life program. Everyone is welcome, from survivors, caregivers, to team captains and their teams.
Library
Toddler Tales for ages one and two will be held at Muncy Public Library on Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Share stories, songs, and movement activities with your toddler. Pre-registration is required and can be made at 546-5014 or by stopping in the library.
Preschool story hour will be held at Hughesville Public Library on Friday, Nov 14, at 10:30 a.m.. Several stories and a simple craft for preschoolers will be presented. Please register so that we have enough craft materials, 584-3723.
Teens! Something new at Hughesville Area Public Library. A Reading group for teenagers is starting this month on Nov. 11 and Nov. 25, 7:30-9 p.m. Come join other readers and talk about favorite books and authors. Snacks will be available. Call the library at 584-3723 if interested. The group will be meeting twice a month from now until June, 2009.
Garden Clubs
The Duboistown Garden Club’s 45th Holiday House, “Winter Wonderland,” will be held at Pennington Lounge, Lycoming College, in Williamsport Nov. 21-22 10-8 p.m. and Nov. 23 10-5. Professional designer demonstrations have been schedule at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 21-22; and at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 23.
Muncy Garden Club will meet Thursday, Nov. 20,at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church Parish Hall. Program is “Decorating for the Holidays.” Money and reservations for the Christmas party and dinner are due. Bayberry candles are being sold and ready for pick up from any club member.
Montour Preserve
From the subtle crafting of a bird’s feathers in wood to the expert brush strokes on canvas, this fall’s Wildlife Art Expo offers a unique glimpse into the world of nature as captured by Pennsylvania artists. The expo will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at PPL’s Montour Environmental Preserve. The expo, which is free and great for all ages, will take place at the Environmental Education Center.
Join a 21st century treasure hunt in a program that combines the fun of hiking with GPS technology from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at PPL’s Montour Environmental Preserve.
George Dalious, local geocaching enthusiast, will explain everything from the basics of purchasing a GPS device to the rules of the game and safe hiking tips. The program will conclude with a search for some nearby hidden caches.
The program, which is free and great for all ages, will begin at the Environmental Education Center. There will be a limited number of GPS units available to borrow; however, if you have one, please bring it along.

Nov. 14-15, at the Ritz Theatre, Radio Razzle Dazzle, directed by Bob Taylor, of Custom Taylored Productions, takes a comedic peek behind the scenes of a 1940’s radio show allows the audience to see what would have been heard. The cast deals with production problems as well as the mystery of catching the Hooded Terror. Tickets $15 per person.
