The Duboistown Garden Club’s 45th Holiday House, “Winter Wonderland,” will be held at Pennington Lounge, Lycoming College, in Williamsport Nov. 21-22 10-8 p.m. and Nov. 23 10-5. Professional designer demonstrations have been schedule at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 21-22; and at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 23.
The Muncy Public Library is going to start publishing a monthly newsletter specifically for teens called, “Teen Space.” The newsletter will include information about new editions to the teen section and upcoming events at the library just for teens. The library also wants to include in the newsletter teen contributions. All young adults from the Muncy area should submit book reviews, short stories, or even poems to share with everyone in the community.
The Hughesville Public Library will host a program, presented by Susquehanna Health Coalition, titled “Why Should I Care About Diabetes?” on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m.
Also, a reading group for teenagers will meet on Nov. 25, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Talk about favorite books and authors. Snacks will be available. The group will be twice a month from now until June, 2009.
On Saturday, Nov/ 22, Greenwood Friends School will host two classes for people of all ages: Origami taught by Korean native and origami expert Michelle Ko, and a Beginner Reiki class taught by holistic healing practitioner Sue Yarnes. The origami class, open to adults and children of all ages, runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and costs $15 per participant. The Reiki class, for adults and teens 14 years of age and older, runs from noon to 5 p.m. at a charge of $30 per participant (a savings of more than half from the cost of Sue’s regular classes). All area women are invited to “Nimble, Thimble Brunch” on Thursday, Nov. 20, 9:30 to 11 a.m. Handquilter and Quilting teacher, Francis Spring, will be demonstrating “Unique Stitches.” Special music will be provided by Harpist Wendy McCormick, and keynote speaker will be Eva Tomashefski, psychologist. The brunch will be held at the Best Western Williamsport Inn, East Third Street and is sponsored by the Christian Women’s Club of Williamsport, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.
