A bingo night for local teens and teen on Friday, March 13, from 4-5:30 p.m. There will be candy for all players and prizes for the winners. Sign up at the library. This is a free event.

A Duct Tape activity night for teens on St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17, from 7-8:30 p.m. Make wallets, cell phone cases and more all out of duct tape. Free snacks and refreshments will be provides. Stop in to sign up.

The last two Friday’s in March will be game nights for tweens and teens featuring the Xbox 360. The game night for tweens will be on Friday, March 20 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and for teens on Friday, March 27 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. There is no chare for either of these fun events. Stop in to sign up.

Attracting Hummingbirds and Bluebirds Program will be held at the Muncy Public Library on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. Presented by Wes Egli from the Lycoming Audubon Society. Participants will learn how to use appropriate nest boxes, flowers, food, and feeders to bring these bird into their own back yard. A slide show will also be presented. Pre-registration is required and can be made by calling 546-5014 after 1 p.m. or by stopping in.

New to our DVD collection are Bangkok Dangerous with Nicholas Cage as an assassin, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with Jet Li and Brendan Fraser, The House Bunny, Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt, The Women with Meg Ryan, staff pick Eagle Eye, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, and Righteous Kill with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

For the family we have Beethoven’s Big Break and Prince Caspian (The Chronicles of Narnia). Remember, it’s free to check out DVDs. You can take out two at a time on an adult card and they need to be returned inside within 2 days.

Little ones will enjoy a rollicking story of Barnacle Barb and her pirate crew in Blimey, That’s Slimy! And Aye, My Eye! Babies Don’t Eat Pizza is a big kids’ book about baby brothers and sisters. If You Were A Penguin by Wendell and Florence Minor is the chosen for the 2009 PA One Book Program and we have several copies to check out not to mention penguin stickers at the desk for the kids too.

Sometimes you find a friend when you least expect it in the children’s bestseller Pete and Pickles. Find out the true story in What Really Happened To Humpty Dumpty.

Fancy Nancy is back as a poison ivy expert in her latest adventure. Staff pick of the month for kids is Knights of the Round Table: The Dodgeball Chronicles. It’s part comic and part story that’s fun to read.

Children can read Rick Riordan’s The 39 Clues and figure out the mystery along with the book’s characters and win actual prizes. Rosemary Well’s Lincoln and His Boys is a wonderful tale of how Lincoln lighted up whenever he was around his sons.

Harry Mazer’s My Brother Abe tells a different side of Lincoln through his sister’s point of view. Perfect for the basketball season is Basketball Skills: How To Play Like a Pro.

We have a new biography on Selena Gomez, the popular actress from The Wizards of Waverly Place. Teen girls will go ga-ga over the biographies on Justin Timberlake and Robert Pattinson: Eternally Yours. If you loved the Twilight series then may we recommend that you try local author Beth Fanaskey’s Jessica’s Guide To Dating on the Dark Side. In it, a guy, a girl, and a vampire are swept up in a love triangle. We guarantee you’ll like it.

In Van Draanen’s Runaway a teen foster girl tries to make it on her own after running away and becoming homeless.

We recently lost a strong supporter of the library, Sarah Godbey. Several donations were made in memory of her by the Winona and Julian Marrel family, Barbara Wood, John and Diana Konkle, Rebecca Hibschman, Steven H. Fairchild and Robert E. Olmstead, Susan Kelly, and William Ritter. Some of the books chosen in memory of Sarah include Every Now and Then by Karen Kingsbury, True Colors by Kristin Hannah, The Oxford Book of American Poetry, and Fun To Make Crafts For Easter. We also thank Merrill and Dorothy Dodge for their generous donation. The library hours are Mon, Tues, Thurs. 1-9; Wed and Sat 9-4pm and Friday 11am-6pm. Stop by and visit us soon.

Hughesville Area Public Library will host free Cardiac, Prostate, Blood Pressure, and Cholesterol Screenings, and free Trigger Point Therapy presented by Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition, on Thursday, March 12, from 10 a.m. until noon. Services provided by Jersey Shore Hospital and Twin Hills Health Center. To register call 570-323-0390.

Preschool story hour will be held at Hughesville Public Library on Friday, March 13, at 10:30. Several stories and a simple craft for preschoolers will be presented. Please register so that we have enough craft materials, 584-3723.

Muncy Hughesville Book Club will be meeting on Saturday, March 21, 10 to 11 a.m. at Hughesville Area Public Library. The book we are reading this month is Three Cups of Tea by Mortenson.

Jigsaw Puzzle exchange is continuing. Bring in a puzzle (with all of its pieces) that you have finished and take home a “new” puzzle. We have about 25 puzzles this week.

Income tax forms are available now. We have some printed copies and others we are able to find on Internet for you.
