The Renn Elementary School Hosts Open House The Renn Elementary School Hosts Open House

In Lairdsville, the Carl G. Renn Elementary School held an Open House on September 17th, from 6-7:30 PM. Principal William Knapsack greeted the students and their families as they entered the building. Scavenger hunt sheets were passed out to all students, and with their families in tow, the search was on to locate the answers to the questions on their sheet.
Students had to visit numerous classrooms in both wings of the building, giving them the opportunity to take family members to their homeroom, revisit with a previous teacher, or check out a teacher they might be assigned to in the future. The questions covered a large spectrum, ranging from “Which two teachers have the same initials?” to “Several of the Renn teachers are Penn State Fans, which two have season passes?” The answer to the first question is 1st grade teacher Bonnie Burkhart, and 3rd grade teacher Beth Bitler. The correct response to the second question is 4th grade teacher Amy Swart, and 6th grade teacher Dave Weigle.
Cub Scout Pack 73 was on hand to sign up new or returning students. In the foyer, the Pack had a table set up full of informative literature and photos of recent activities. The Cubs are available for grades 1- 5th, and meet at Renn every Tuesday at 7 PM. If you are interested, contact Cub master Ken Houck, or Assistant Cub master Jim Reynolds.
Many families visited the Book Fair that the Renn PTO had set up in the Pre-K
Room. One happy young boy came into the library with a video and book his parents had purchased for him.
Mrs. Noelle Bloom, Food Service Director for Nutrition Inc. provided tasty and nutritious snacks and vegetables throughout the evening. They were a big hit with the students and adults. All had a pleasant evening!
