Montgomery High School, Virtuoso, presents ”Shrek, the Musical”

Students from the Montgomery High School Virtuoso program will be performing SHREK, the Musical April 25-27.  The show will feature 2 separate casts.  Pictured from the Friday evening and Sunday afternoon cast are Matt Reinhart, Devon Donahue, and Aris Shah.  They are playing the roles of SHREK, Fiona, and Donkey.

Virtuoso, the Montgomery High School music and theatre ensemble, will be presenting their spring performance, “Shrek, the Musical”, on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m,. and Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. in the middle and high school auditorium.

Music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, “Shrek, the Musical” is based off of the DreamWorks animated movie. The story revolves around the main conflict of Shrek, the ogre, trying to get his swamp back. He goes on an interesting journey and meets various Fairy Tale Creatures and other unbelievable characters.

Virtuoso co-directors, Mrs. Carina McNear and Mrs. Jessica Carpenter are anxious to take-on this familiar show. “Thanks to the students and parents for all of their hard work, time, dedication, and talents.” Also, Mr. Brian Rehn will be conducting the live-orchestra.

Tickets can be purchased at the door but reserved seating is encouraged and can be reserved by emailing Carina McNear at cmcnear@montasd.org.

Virtuoso has been in existence for 15 years, but is in its sixth season as a combined theatre and vocal ensemble. Virtuoso’s most recent performance was “Hiding in the Open” last fall. In their current production, Virtuoso has 105 cast and crew members ranging from sixth to twelfth grade.
