HUGHESVILLE FBLA TEAM TO COMPETE NATIONALLY
HUGHESVILLE – The Future Business Leaders of America Club (FBLA) at Hughesville High School had a terrific year. Many students, as individuals and in groups, went on to the FBLA Competition in Hershey to compete and show off their knowledge. Caleb Wertz, Marilee Getgen, Logan Bower, Trey Smith, Cheyanne Reichelderfer, Brady Kimble, Jimmy Trevouledes, Abby Sherman, Allison Russell, Michelle Mostowy, Spencer Jones, Melanie Santo, and Hannah Avery all departed Hughesville and headed to States. The 13 students departed for Hershey, April 6, and arrived back in Hughesville on April 9, knowing that they had done their best.
Three seniors, Hannah Avery, Melanie Santo and Spencer Jones placed third in the statewide competition with their presentation on the effects of the Affordable Care Act for small businesses. This will send them to nationals from June 25 through July 1st in Tennessee. Avery and Santo are returning to nationals again this year; last year they presented a business plan in California.
As a club this year, FBLA was very successful. Many new students joined, and several students from previous years returned to show off what they know about business, including last year’s nationalists’ Melanie Santo and Hannah Avery. The students in the club took tests on various business topics, such as entrepreneurship and business presentation, to see if they had what it takes to make it all the way to Hershey.
