Area students nominated for Ray of Light Awards

Leading actor in a play: Benjamin Nesselrodt, "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"

The Community Theatre League’s 2014 Ray of Light Awards, which honor the best and brightest in high school theater, will be held May 18, 6 p.m., at the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth Street.

Eight plays and 13 musicals have been submitted in this year’s competition from high schools in Tioga, Clinton, Lycoming, Union, Northumberland and Snyder counties.

With the adjudication process concluded, and the scoring sheets tabulated, CTL has announced the nominees.

Four area students were nominated in the following category:

Leading Actor in a Play: Benjamin Nesselrodt in “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court”- Hughesville

Supporting actor in a musical: Josh Fry, "42nd Street"

Leading Actor in a Musical: Josh Lloyd in “The Music Man”- Muncy

Supporting Actor in a Musical: Josh Fry in “42nd Street” – Hughesville

Featured Actor in a Musical: Collin Smith in “The Music Man” – Muncy

Festivities start at 4:30 p.m. with a red carpet, formals, DJ and paparazzi and awards following at 6 p.m. and performances by the participating students.

The Ray of Light Awards acknowledge the essential role of performing arts programs in the development of young adults, while recognizing emerging talent and providing a showcase to expand arts awareness and appreciation.
