Students from the Montgomery Area Junior and Senior High Schools were recently presented with a challenge by their school behavior team. The team of teachers and guidance counselors operates under the P.R.I.D.E. program, encouraging students to recognize their opportunities to demonstrate Peace, Respect, Integrity, Diplomacy, and Engagement within the school community.

Quarterly events are held to reward students who meet the program requirements. Recently, a new incentive was added to foster even further growth of the program’s goals. “Clash of the Classes” was presented to students during the first quarter of the school year. Junior High and Senior High students were pitted against each other in a competition for an extra reward held only for the winning grade levels.

Students began a heated competition where points could be earned under such categories as attendance and honor roll. It was a close battle, but the seventh and eleventh grade students were the victors in their respective schools.

Surplus Outlet generously agreed to sponsor this new program, recognizing the importance of encouraging positive behavior within the school. Ultimately, a positive environment supports stronger academic performance.

The incentive was held December 7 at Faxon Lanes in Williamsport. Students were able to leave school and bowl two games as well as sharing snacks and social time with friends and faculty. A new “Clash of Classes” competition will continue for the next nine weeks. Winners will be crowned halfway through the third quarter.
