By Staff | Apr 11, 2018

PHOTO PROVIDED Senior, Zofina Fink, and junior, Caleb Hipple, prepare for the roles of the Baker's Wife and Baker for Montgomery High School Virtuoso's upcoming production of "Into the Woods."

MONTGOMERY – ‘Virtuoso’, the Montgomery High School music and theatre ensemble, will be presenting their spring musical, “Into the Woods” on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

With music by Stephen Sondheim and story collaboration with James Lapine, this operetta skillfully intertwines several beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a modern way. Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel find themselves helping a baker and his wife on their quest for a child. All of the characters simultaneously pursue their own wishes with humorous and heartfelt music.

Tickets are available on the Showtix4u website or can be purchased by calling 1-866-967-8167. Tickets also can be purchased through the school website at www.montasd.org and will be sold at the door two hours prior to each show but reserved seating is encouraged.

Virtuoso has been in existence for 19 years, but is in its tenth season as a combined theatre and vocal ensemble. Virtuoso’s most recent performances were “Twelve Angry Jurors” in December and a voice recital entitled “Singing on the Edge” last month. The ensemble is co-directed by Carina McNear and Jessica Carpenter, with orchestra direction by Brian Rehn and technical direction by James Carpenter.
