As I write these words, I am imagining the homes at which this issue of the Luminary will be delivered. Whether you live down the street or across the country, or your celebration is festive or subdued, my wish is that your Christmas is a day filled with granted wishes and unexpected surprises. See you in a week as we greet the new year!

Don’t forget to pick up your Montgomery Lions sauerkraut at Thad’s on Route 54 or you can contact any Montgomery Lions member to place your order.

The Montgomery Library will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Dec. 24-26, and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and 2. Storytime will resume Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Monday, Dec. 29, 12 noon to 6 p.m., there will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Wednesday, Dec. 31, the Borough office will close at 11:30 a.m. and will be closed New Year’s Day.

Wednesday, Dec. 31, the McNett Country Band will be performing at the Clinton Township Fire Hall. Come and enjoy the entertainment and square dancing. Sauerkraut and hot dogs will be served at midnight. Call 570-547-1000 for more information and to purchase tickets.

Saturday, Jan. 3, beginning at 4 p.m., the Watsontown United Methodist Church, 11 E. Third St., Watsontown, will serve a filled chicken breast dinner. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. For more information, call the church office at 538-1017.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m., Montgomery Borough Council meeting at the Borough Offices on Main Street.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, 4:30 to 6 p.m., a family-style chicken and ham pot pie dinner will be served at the Brick Church. Dinner includes cole slaw, homemade applesauce, succotash, rolls and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 10, and children 5 and under eat free.

Thursday, Jan. 15, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company will be serving at sit-down meal of Roast beef, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and corn. Dessert is a choice of apple or cherry pie. Cost is $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 6-12, and children 5 and under eat free.

Tryouts for the “Tri-town Braves Football Team” will be at the Montgomery Borough Park on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. Cost is $15.00 to join this full equipment and contact sport. For more information contact Derek Hans at 570-394-8270.
