Hughesville Locals

Fun Fact for the week: One in every four Americans has appeared on television. I think this became a fact once “American Idol” started.

Pet Peeve for the week: Spaghetti clogged in the drain; don’t ask.

Most people in the area are aware of the Eagles Mere toboggan slide. It is a wonderful experience that can only take place when the ice on Eagles Mere Lake is at least a foot thick. Many of you know that my family is from Eagles Mere. One year my Uncle Paul wanted to see if the ice was thick enough for the slide. He drove my grandfather’s car out on the pond to see if the ice would hold; it didn’t. With that being said, the ice is thick enough this year and the Eagles Mere Toboggan slide will be open again for this 2010 winter season. The slide is under construction and expected to open starting Friday, January 22 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. As long as the weather stays cold it will run on Friday evenings and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. It guarantees to be long lines, but loads of fun!
