Your Montgomery Area Historical Society board of directors is looking for YOU! There is a vacancy on the society’s 11-member board. If you are interested in joining this congenial, active group, contact one of the officers: President Doug Snyder (547-6600) VP Joan Blank (547-7005), Treasurer Cathy Buck (547-67380 or Secretary Pat Herbst (547-7187).

Members of the Historical Society who attend the public meeting at Eagle Grange on Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. will elect the new board member from among the individuals who have expressed an interest in joining.

St. John’s “Brick” Church will be making homemade Easter eggs until mid-March. To order, call 547-1289.

Thursday, March 4, 5 to 7 p.m., a spaghetti dinner will be held at the Clinton Township Fire Hall.

Saturday, March 6, is the deadline to call in orders for the Veterans of the Vietnam War Post PA-51 Beef Vegetable and Chicken Corn Rival Soup Sale. To order: 570-419-3730 or 570-547-2814. Pick up at A-1 Auction Hall on Route 15 on March 13.

Sunday, March 7, the Montgomery Lions Club will hold a Sauerkraut Dinner at the Clinton Township Fire Hall. For more info on tickets and take-out, please call Norman at 547-2873

Tuesday, March 9, 8 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m., Montgomery Area School District will hold pre-K and Kindergarten Registration for 2010/2011 school year at the Montgomery Elementary Music Room. For information, contact the elementary school at 547- 1608.

Tuesday, March 9, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery FoodBank will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church, 50 E. Houston Ave., Montgomery. Everyone who lives within the Montgomery School District who has a need for food is welcome. For more info, contact Carolyn at 547-1508.

Tuesday, March 9, 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery Borough Council will meet at the borough hall.

Wednesday, March 10, 4:30 to 6 p.m., St. John Lutheran Brick Church will hold a beef and ham potpie dinner featuring mixed vegetables, homemade applesauce, rolls/bread, dessert, coffee/tea. For takeouts, call 547-6423.

Tuesday, March 16, 7 p.m., the Montgomery Area Historical Society has invited Carl Miess, PA State Grange Public Relations and Membership Director, to discuss the history of the Pennsylvania Grange at the Eagle #1 Grange Hall, Route 15 in Montgomery. Refreshment will be served following the meeting.

Saturday, March 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Watsontown Lions Spring Chicken BBQ will be held in the parking lot at the corner of Brimmer and Main Streets.

Saturday, March 27, beginning at 3 p.m., the Montgomery Area Historical Society will host an Open House at the Stone Church on the Allenwood Prison Grounds near White Deer Golf Course. A Lenten service will be held at 6 p.m., led by Pastor Gunther Bernhardt (Christ Lutheran Church) and Pastor Larry LeFeber (Clinton Baptist Church). The Easter Bunny will make an appearance and will pose for pictures with children of all ages.
