Montgomery events

Last week was the beginning of the MAKE A SPLASH! READ!! Summer Reading Program at the Montgomery Library. Kids are invited to come every Wednesday June 16, 23, 30, July 14, 21, 28, and August 4 at 2 p.m. to join in on a fun activity.

Montgomery Events:

Today until Saturday, June 19, Watsontown Carnival at the Watsontown Community Park. Saturday: Ox Roast starting at noon and being served until sold out. Fireman’s Parade will form at the fire department’s station (located across from the Watsontown Elementary School) at 2 p.m. and moving at 4 p.m.

Tuesday, June 15, 6:30 p.m. Montgomery Borough Council meeting at the borough hall.

Friday, June 18, 4 to 7 p.m., Father’s Day dinner/fundraiser, Turbotville Community Hall. For more information, call 649-6577.

Saturday, June 19, 2 p.m., the 7th Annual Riverside Campground Chili Cookoff. The live band “Pepper Street” will entertain from 2 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, June 19, 1 p.m., the Fairy Tale Princess and Prince Pageant will be held at the Watsontown Community Park.

Sunday, June 20, 1 p.m., 4th Annual Duck Derby at the Nurse Helen Fairchild Bridge in Watsontown sponsored by Wendy’s Hair Place/ Rene’s Barbershop. Proceeds to benefit the Page Family Fund, Children’s Miracle Network, and Warrior Run Area Fire Department.

Monday through Saturday, June 21 to 26, Montgomery Carnival at the Carnival grounds near the river. Parade on the 26th.

Saturday, July 3, Fourth of July celebration at the Carnival grounds. Montgomery Firemens Tractor Pull starting at 11 a.m. EMA Sponsored Pig Roast starting at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks at dusk.

Sunday, July 4, 11 a.m., tractor pull and chicken Bar-B-Q at the carnival grounds in Montgomery.

Sunday, July 4, 9 a.m., Watsontown Fourth of July Celebration at the Community Park, starts with a parade, which forms at 9 a.m. and moves at 10 a.m. A chicken BBQ will start at 11:30 a.m. in the pavilion; tickets available at Bee Cee Hardware Store or Heater’s Garage. Homemade potato chips, food and desserts will be on sale all day with a pig roast ready by late afternoon. Fireworks at dusk. Questions: 570-538-1000.

Sunday, July 4, 10 a.m., the Patriotic Musical “Land of The Free” will be presented at the Watsontown Alliance Church, Eighth Street, Watsontown.

Tuesday, July 6, 7 p.m., Black Hole Creek Watershed Association meeting. Forester Jack Fisher will present “The History of Lumbering in Lycoming County” at the Montgomery Borough Office.

Tuesday, July 13, 6:30 p.m., Montgomery Borough Council Meeting at the Borough Hall.
