Pet Peeve For The Week: When the woman in front of me is texting while driving her car as we were leaving the Phillies game on Sunday!! Seriously, is there anything more dangerous?!

It’s Lycoming County Fair time!! I can’t wait to eat a Gunzy’s hot sausage and Espy French fries! Once again this year there are many events happening at the fair:

Fair events

THURSDAY, JULY 15, is the fair preview. Gates open at 6 p.m., with Vesper Services at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

On FRIDAY, JULY 16, open class exhibit judging begins. Buildings open to the public after the judging is completed.

SATURDAY, JULY 17, is the Antique Tractor Pull at 11 a.m. Draft horse show is at 4 p.m. and youth lamb show is 5:30 p.m.

SUNDAY, JULY 18, the open horse show takes place at 9 a.m.; the Garden Tractor Pull is from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

MONDAY, JULY 19, is the Breeding Sheep Show at 9 a.m. The 0pen Market Lamb show immediately follows and the Youth Beef Show is 6:30 p.m.

TUESDAY, JULY 20, the Youth DairyShow begins at 10 a.m. The School Day Program takes place at the Grandstand at 10 a.m. (it’s great fun for all the kids!), Youth Market Swine Show is at 7 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 21, is Sunset Ice Cream and Senior Citizens Day until 5 p.m. Seniors showing proof of age 65 and older receive reduced admission. Free T-shirts to the first 1000 paid adult admissions with Sunset Ice Cream purchase. Free Grandstand tickets to see Ryan Pelton with purchase at sunset ice Cream Stores. Open Holstein Dairy Show at 10 a.m. and open Swine Show at 7 p.m.

Hughesville events

The 39+ Club will meet on July 14 at the Trinity Lutheran Church Social Hall in Hughesville at 11:45 a.m. Please bring a tureen and table service Visitors are welcome and games will follow the meeting.

The Farragut United Methodist Church hosts its annual Blueberry Festival on July 17 from 4:30-7 p.m. The church is located on Route 864 near the intersection of route 87.

The summer season for the Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts continues on Friday, July 16, with a tribute to Eagles Mere artist, Newby Hendl. A reception followed by a silent auction will be held at the Community Hall from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The silent auction will continue on Saturday, July 17 from 1-7:30 p.m., when results will be announced. Purchase and pick-up of auction paintings will be held on Sunday, July 18 from 11 to 1. On Saturday, July 17 at 8 p.m. accomplished vocalist Natalie Douglas brings her unique mix of jazz, blues, standards and country music in a cabaret performance that will take your breath away. She will be accompanied by piano, bass, guitar and drums. Brain/Food continues on Thursday, July 22 at 6 p.m. with a potluck dinner and a movie followed by a discussion.
