Balloon Fest coming this weekend to fairgrounds

By Staff | Sep 16, 2010

Twelve hot air balloons are expected this Saturday at the Hughesville Fairgrounds. Four Rotary clubs have been working for months to bring about a Balloon Festival for the day according to Sandy Spencer, chair person for the event. The Hughesville, Muncy, Montoursville and Williamsport Rotary Clubs are raising money together for Habitat for Humanity. “Seventy five percent of our proceeds will go towards Habitat,” said Peggy Woods of the Hughesville Rotary.

Also scheduled for the day will be an RV airplane stunt air show, a Lady skydiving team, the Misty Blues, a BMX racing team that will demonstrate stunts and a 4 by 4 four wheel race. Thirty crafters are also expected.

“The last balloon festival was held two years ago and this will be the first time we have held it at the fairgrounds,” continued Woods. “There is more parking and more room for vendors and we hope to make this an annual event.” The event will be held for two days, Saturday and Sunday and this will be the fifth balloon festival for the Rotary clubs.
