Hughesville events

The 39+ Club meeting will be held on Wed., Dec. 8 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Everyone is invited to bring a dozen and a half cookies. A Christmas sing-a-long will be followed by several games.

The Huntersville Area Senior Citizens will meet on Wed. Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at LCCC in Hughesville for their Christmas dinner. Carl and Opal Schlappi will entertain.

Members of Picture Rocks Senior Citizens will meet at Picture Rocks United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.on Thurs, Dec. 9 for a catered meal. Please bring some canned goods for the Son Light House.

There will be a Christmas concert Fri. Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lairdsville Faith Church, 7 miles east of Hughesville on Rt. 118. Call 584-2765 for more information.

The Hughesville Area Public Library Pre-School Story Hour will be held on December 10 at 10:30 a.m. Miss Nancy will have several stories and a simple craft for a fun time for pre-schoolers. Call 584-3762 to sign up so that there are enough materials.

The Hughesville Senior Citizens will meet at the Hughesville Baptist Church on Friday, December 10 at noon for a tureen meal. Bring a dish to pass and tableware.

An All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast Buffet will be held on Sunday, December 12 at the Picture Rocks Volunteer Fire Company from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. $8 per person and $4 ages 6-12. Under 6 is free.

The Millville Volunteer Fire Company will be holding a Breakfast Buffet on Sunday, Dec. 12 from 7-11 a.m. Santa will be there!

The public is invited to an open house featuring The Nativity at the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 12 from 1-5 p.m. Come and walk through a unique display of numerous nativity collections. Light refreshments will be served.

Lycoming College will hold its 35th annual “Candlelight Services: A Festival of Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Clarks Chapel. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a musical prelude beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Toys For Tots. The Luminary and East Lycoming Shopper are requesting new unwrapped toys. Please drop off your toy by December 17. Your toy will bring much happiness to a local child.

Vonnie Sones and Burrows Boston recently viewed 116 books shelved atthe Hughesville High School Library purchased by the class of 1960 as their 50th year memorial donation. Thank you to these alumni who keep our education flowing in our schools. That is a wonderful gift.

Congratulations to all the hunters out there who brought home a buck and returned home safely! Yea Woody–8 pts.!!
