Montgomery will be celebrating a special birthday next year. On March 21, 2012, the borough will be marking the 125th anniversary of its incorporation in 1887. The event is known as a quasquicentennial – a loose Latin translation for “a hundred and a quarter” – which is a term coined by an editor at Funk and Wagnalls in 1962. So, when you hear someone mention the quasquicentennial, you’ll can say, “Yes! Let’s start planning our 125th birthday party!”
