Hughesville’s Band is sponsoring a “Basket & Chef” Bingo on Saturday, April 2 at the Hughesville High School Cafeteria. Tickets are available at the door. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the first game begins at 1 p.m.

“Wheels to Freedom” Basket/Vera Bradley Bingo will be held at the Hughesville Fire hall on Sunday, April 3. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the first game begins at 1 p.m.

The Picture Rocks Baptist Church invites everyone who enjoys playing board games to attend the Family Game Night on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the church, 50 Elm Street in Picture Rocks. Rev. Ron Turner, Pastor, explained that people bring their favorite games like Monopoly, Sorry, and Dominoes and find partners among the attendees. According to Pastor Ron, “Family Game Night has become a popular event in the life of our church and we want to share this good healthy fun with people in the community. Everyone is welcome. “No one should be sitting alone at home when they could be enjoying the games and refreshments; there is no charge. Just drop in.”

The Farragut United Methodist Church hosts its monthly First Tuesday Fellowship Dinner on April 5 from 5:30-7 p.m., Rte. 864 near the intersection with Rte. 87.

A Fish Supper will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 3-7 p.m., at the Sugarloaf School Memorial Building in Benton.

The 39+ Club will meet at Trinity Lutheran Social Hall on Wednesday, April 13. A catered meal will be held and member dues must be paid. Please call Esther Fry to have your name on the list by April 6.

The annual Hughesville Borough tree trimming pick up will be done the week of April 26. Place all 6″ diameter or less branches at the street curb. Leaves and grass clippings will not be picked up. No alley pick up.

Get ready for the 13th annual Greater Hughesville Business Association’s Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held Weds., May 11 at the Mill Race Golf Course in Benton. It will be a four-person scramble beginning at 1 p.m. Four-person teams can register by calling Mike or Deb Sullivan at 584-2101 or Pauline Freezer at 584-2101.

Hughesville’s Trinity Lutheran, Mt. Zion Lutheran, Christ United Methodist, Bethany United Methodist and Hope Community Fellowship Churches are all participating in the “Family Promise” program of Lycoming County. Family Promise is a community response for homeless families. Three to four times per year, for one week at a time, host congregations provide, at their church, overnight lodging, meals (supper, breakfast and a brown-bag lunch) and hospitality. The program is based on the support of volunteers and donations of congregations. If you are interested in helping, please contact Trinity Lutheran Church at 584-3490.

Downtown Hughesville invites you to buy an engraved brick or paver to support the construction of the Memorial Park located on the corner of Main & Water Streets in Hughesville. A 4″x8″ brick or an8″x8″ paver may be purchased. Discount prices are in effect until April 30. Flyers can be picked up at the borough office or at downtown merchants.
