Hughesville Events

There are many upcoming Memorial Day celebrations and parades. Picture Rocks will be holding their parade on Sunday, May 29 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Services after the parade will be at the PR Cemetery with guest speaker Garth Everett.

Hughesville’s Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 30 beginning at 9 a.m. Remember to thank a veteran for your freedom this Memorial Day weekend (and every day!).

The East Lycoming School District invites the public to attend a dedication for its new solar power project on Thursday, May 26 at 20 a.m. Following the ceremony, the public is invited to tour the solar field and other energy projects of the school district.

Hughesville High School’s May Day celebration will take place on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. This year’s theme will be Disney. Good luck to all the court nominees. The Queen’s Court: Rachel Charles, Molly Hitesman, Ariel Lyons, Maeghan Reitz, Ivy Spako and Emily Truett. The King’s Court: Randall Davis, Wade Hines, Aaron Hufnagel, Dylan Lesher, Ethan Showers and Germano Viezze. The Princess Court: Taylor Hill, Melanie Santo, Keirsten Schriner and Brittany Snyder. The Prince’s Court: Kaamal Burkholder, Josh Fry, Tyler Mitcheltree and Ty Lloyd.

Hughesville Senior Citizens will meet at the Baptist Church on May 27 at noon for a catered meal. Entertainment and a meeting will follow.

The Fifth Annual Streetmoves 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will take place on May 28 at 10 a.m. in the Hughesville High School Gym. All proceeds benefit the Shaun J. Gearhart Memorial Scholarship Fund. For more information call 584-4094.

A Buffet Style Smorgasbord will be held on Saturday, May 28 from 4-6 p.m. at the Valley United Methodist Church between Sonestown and Muncy Valley.

The public is invited to attend an open house to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Eunice Stover on Sunday, May 29 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Picture rocks United Methodist Church.

A Turkey Dinner will be held on Saturday, June 4 from 4-7 p.m. at the Huntersville United Methodist Church.

Count on finding it at Picture Rocks Baptist Church’s Inside Yard and Bake sale, 50 Elm St, intersection 864/220, Saturday June 4, 9:00 to 3:00. It was good last year. Expect great this year. For details call 584-6572.

The Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department Carnival will be held June 6th through the 11th. Mon. June 6 the Pet Parade (my favorite!) forms at the high school at 6:30 a.m. and moves at 7 p.m. Weds. the Antique Car Parade forms at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m. and moves at 7 p.m. Rain date is June 9.

The Firemen’s Parade takes place on Saturday and forms at the high school at 4 p.m. and moves at 5 p.m. Ride night specials are Tuesday and Thursday and there will be live entertainment every night. On Saturday there will be a chicken BBQ beginning at 3 p.m. Take outs are available. Get advance ride tickets from any fireman.
