Hughesville Local Events

By Staff | Aug 23, 2011

Fun Fact For The Week: The Little League World Series set a new attendance record last weekend when 41,848 fans attended the game between LaGrange, KY and our own Keystone, Clinton County team. The previous record was 40,000 twice before during the 1989 and 1990 championship games. The Philadelphia Philles Citizens Bank Park seats 43,650. Looks like we’re quickly catching up to the big leagues!

Pet Peeve For The Week: Drivers who do not come to a complete stop at stop signs; they just perform the “rolling stop”.

Kudos to the Hughesville Police Department for positioning themselves around town to catch those speeders and “rollers”. It is very much appreciated. Especially important now that school will be in session soon.

My sincerest apologies to the family of Beth (Foresman) Smith. In last week’s column, I reported that there would be a Breakfast fundraiser for Beth and noted her name as Beth (Odell) Foresman. Although many knew exactly who I was mentioning, her correct name is Beth (Foresman) Smith. I certainly don’t want to neglect her wonderful husband and son. Sorry Beth!!
