Hughesville locals

By Staff | Aug 30, 2011

Fun Fact For The Week: Federal law mandates that school buses be painted yellow. In 1939 the color was specifically created for use on school buses because black lettering would be seen easiest on it in early morning light when the buses are picking up students for school. Remember; school is now in session. Backpacks, pencils and notebooks Oh My!!Remember to be aware and alert as you drive.

Pet Peeve For The Week: Due to weather, the Phillies game we were to attend was postponed to another date; when I can’t go. Stupid hurricane. Earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding – what’s next? My friend, Janine, is betting on locusts!

Last week we attended the Little League World Series and watched as California (the world champions) defeated our local Keystone team. Although Keystone lost, the atmosphere, enthusiasm and crowds rivaled that of a major league team. It was a proud moment for all as Keystone took their final lap around the bases. We look forward to next year.

A question often asked by friends is,”What is your favorite sound?” Some people reply, bells ringing or a train whistle. To that question I reply, “When I hear my son laugh. Nothing brings a smile to my face like his laughter. It reminds me how blessed I am. What is your favorite sound?

Remember; take the high road because the low road’s so crowded.
