This Labor Day Weekend, come down to the river runs near our borough and enjoy the serenity and beauty that is right in our backyard. Labor Day is the PA Fish & Game Commission’s second Fish-for-Free Day. This day allows anyone (resident or non-resident) to legally fish with NO FISHING LICENSE REQUIRED to fish on all Pennsylvania’s waterways on this day. For more info, see www.fishandboat.com

Montgomery events

Tuesday, September 6, 12 noon, the Montgomery Area Senior Citizens will meet at St. John Lutheran (Brick) Church for a tureen dinner, business meeting, and program. Guests are welcome. Reservations are not necessary, but bring a dish to share and your own table service. Health checks will be provided prior to the dinner, starting at 11 a.m.

Saturday, September 10, starting at 4 p.m., Filled Chicken Breast Dinner at Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth Street, Watsontown. Take-outs available.

Sunday, September 11, 12 noon to 6 p.m. 5th Annual Bluegrass by the River, Montgomery Borough Park. Food, fun, raffles, and door prizes. Five regional bands.

Tuesday, September 13, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., The “Montgomery Community Closet” at Christ Lutheran Church 50 East Houston Avenue, Montgomery, offers free clothing to anyone in the Montgomery School District who has a clothing need. Donations of clean clothing and shoes will also be accepted during this time.

Tuesday, September 13, 6:30 p.m., Montgomery Borough Council, 35 S. Main St., Montgomery.

Tuesday, September 20, Montgomery School Board meeting.

Saturday, September 24, 11 a.m., Fifth Annual Fall Festival, Elimsport United Methodist Church.
