Author to Speak at Library Gala

MONTGOMERY – The public is invited to attend the Montgomery Area Public Library Centennial Gala on Friday, November 18, at the Genetti Hotel Grand Ball Room, Fourth Street, Williamsport. The guest speaker will be Professor Dennis P. McIlnay, author of “The Horseshoe Curve: Sabotage and Subversion in the Railroad City” (Seven Oaks Press, 2008) which tells the story of the Nazi plot to destroy the Horseshoe Curve rail site near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1942, a sabotage raid considered one of the first terrorist plots against the United States. Mr. McIlnay is also the author of two additional Pennsylvania history books: “Juniata, River of Sorrows: One Man’s Journey into a River’s Tragic Past” (Seven Oaks Press, 2003) and “The Wreck of the Red Arrow: An American Train Tragedy” (Seven Oaks Press, 2010).

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction featuring books autographed by such authors as Janet Evanovich, Robin Cook, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. A cash bar will precede dinner, which will be served at 6:00 p.m. A book signing by Mr. McIlnay will be held at the conclusion of the silent auction.
