Christmas concert offers holiday cheer
HUGHESVILLE – The Hughesville Junior/Senior High School Choruses will present their annual Christmas winter concert on Thursday, December 8 beginning at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A highlight of the evening will be the first showing of the Senior High Choir’s new robes which were purchased with funds raised by the students and community.
“All alumni singers are invited to attend and be included in this wonderful endeavor,” announced director, Joy Barto. “Thanks to one and all!”
The Junior High chorus, grades 7 and 8, will open the program with “Sing the Songs of Christmas”, “Reindeer on the Roof”. and “Felice Navidad”. The Spartan Singers and Junior County Singers will also perform numbers including “Winter Wonderland”, “All of One Heart”, and “Bye Bye Blackbird.”
The Senior High portion of the program will begin with small ensembles presenting the following holiday favorites: “White Christmas”, “Santa, Bring My Baby Back”, “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen”, and “Hey, Mister Santa Medley”.
The final performers to take the stage will be the Senior High Choir. Their repertoire will include “Heri Za Krismas”, “Sleigh Ride”, “Breath of Heaven”, “Joyful, Joyful”, and “To Those Who Serve”. Pianists are Kate Rodriguez and Charles Shaner.
In conclusion, all singers will perform “Yule Be Rockin” and the Hughesville High School Alma Mater. Director, Mrs. Joy Barto announced, “The public is cordially invited to attend this evening of Christmas cheer!”
