National Day of Prayer

By Staff | Apr 24, 2012

MUNCY – Americans are preparing to exercise their freedom to gather, worship and pray on Thursday, May 3 by observing the National Day of Prayer.

Local observance of the 61st annual National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 5:30 PM on the Muncy High School front lawn (inclement weather the auditorium). Community pastors will lead intercessory prayer for the protection and healing of America.

“This year’s theme, ‘One Nation Under God’ is based on Psalm 33:12 which reminds us that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”. Because we have been “One Nation Under God” for more than two centuries, we have enjoyed His blessings and our individual liberties,” said coordinator, Barbara Williams.

The Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775, setting aside a day of prayer, predates the founding of The United States of America. Congress established an annual day of prayer in 1952. That law was amended in 1988 designating the first Thursday of May as the National Day of Prayer.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event honoring ‘One Nation Under God’ through worship and prayer.
