Muncy Historical Society Hosts “Florals Exhibit”
MUNCY – The Muncy Historical Society celebrates Last Friday with its “Florals Exhibit” and sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29. Light refreshments will be served during exhibit hours.
The evening’s featured art exhibition is a collection of floral watercolors by Robert Olmstead. Olmstead, a retired art educator, is drawn to light, shadow, texture and detail and his inspirations come from nature, from people and human-made objects. His floral paintings reflect this complexity in style and diversity and a number of his originals which are on exhibit are also available for purchase.
Olmstead shares the evening’s floral spotlight with several other local artists including Tammy Daneker and her hand-crafted, textured handbags and clutches; Holly Howrilla with her perennials; Selinda Kennedy and her redware; Kris Robbins and his sculptural metal art; and Judith Cole Youngman with her own Lycoming Lily design presented in both quilt and framed floral pieces. The Society’s William Lowmiller 19th century jacquard coverlet collection and Jean Mohr’s “Rose” will also be on display.
The Muncy Historical Society’s volunteers are also busy with their July initiatives. The museum’s normal schedule is Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. plus Saturday, July 7 as one of the participants in Lycoming County Museum Days. The Society’s calendar also includes its 8th annual Quilt Show on July 20 and 21, followed by July 27th’s Last Friday “Christmas in July” exhibition and sale.
