August 3 is family night at the Muncy Pool.

August 4 Muncy American Legion Post 268 12th annual Car Show and pig roast at 515 Legion Road, Muncy, rain or shine. Serving hot sausage, hot dogs and burgers until 3 p.m. Registration for car show is from 9 to noon. Judging to begin at noon and close at 1:30 p.m. followed by live music. All proceeds benefit the military and their families.

Saturday, August 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Susquehanna Health’s Family Health Fest & Kids’ Health Fair will be held at Lycoming Mall. The event features free activities, health information and screenings including blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and glucose, stroke and vision testing. Low-cost screenings including a lipid profile (requires a 12-hour fast) and A1c blood testing for diabetes will be offered. Talk with healthcare professionals and representatives from community agencies to gather the latest health and wellness information. Creatures of the Night with Zoo America will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Muncy Public Library. Popular live animal show featuring owls and creatures of the night. For families with children ages 4 and up. Call 546-5014 to register.

Aug. 8 and 8 distribution days at Son Light House. Weds. ten to noon and Thurs. 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Special quilt weekend at the Packwood House Museum, 15 N. Water Street, Lewisburg Aug. 10 – 12 featuring a special exhibit of antique quilts

Aug. 11 – Community day at Muncy Pool.

Dream Big Kids Art show Sat. Aug. 11 at Muncy Public Library. Celebrate the end of summer reading and enjoy the children’s artwork. Stop by the community room between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see the summer creations.

Damsels and Dragons Saturday Aug. 11 at the Montour Preserve from 10 to 11:30 a.m. As presented by Jon Beam there are old tales of dragons carrying off young damsels. Although just stories, the dragons do exist with damsels in the form of unique insects such as damselflies and dragonflies. Venture outdoors to take a look. Binoculars helpful. Meet in education center or call 437-3131.

Muncy Valley Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit will host regular Alzheimer’s support group meeting on Tuesday, August 14. The topic will be an open discussion. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Britten, Social Services, at 570-546-4040.
