Weather is such a huge factor in our lives. After a spell of frequent shifts between rain and sun, isn’t it nice to have this lovely high pressure zone keeping the skies clear? It’s a nice change from this past Saturday when Mother Nature once again displayed some strong wind and heavy downpours.

A full weekend is coming up! The East Lycoming Historical Society has re-scheduled their open-air membership drive/fundraiser at the museum for this Saturday, and the Hughesville Friends Church has its annual Block Party, featuring music, games, and lots of family activities.

The Rotary Balloonfest is this Saturday in Hughesville, and Friday through Sunday folks will be attending the Bowhunters Festival near Forksville.

The Hughesville Area Public Library is having their monthly Pre-school Story Hour this Friday, September 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. If your 3 5 year-old child would like to attend, please be sure to call the library staff at 584-3762 to register so they know how many are coming. I heard that they will be hearing stories about caterpillars this month and also will be making something to take home. There may also be treats involved!

For several weeks I’ve had many brochures, fliers, and advertisements about upcoming events in our area, but my supply is nearly exhausted. If your club, church, or group is planning something that you would like to see me mention, please notify the Luminary office and they will forward everything to me. Meanwhile, go out and enjoy a game of soccer, football, tennis, or softball and support the youth of our community!
