Montgomery locals

By Staff | Sep 13, 2012

On Sunday, September 23, the Montgomery Area Historical Society, in combination with members of the Dean McNett Family, will present a tribute to Radio Corral. The original Radio Corral concerts took place from the 1950’s to the 1970’s in the Bob and Dean McNett Park, near what is now McNett Road between Montgomery and Route 15.

The shows were often presented to overflowing crowds, and featured singers of country music from Nashville and Hollywood. The tribute, presented in remembrance of Dean and his brothers by Dean’s wife, Dot, and her two sons, Tim and Shawn, will include musical selections from the original Radio Corral musical acts. Performers will include the McNett Country Band with several guests, and Connie Rose, the daughter of the original owners of Radio Corral, Jim and Jane Claar.

The event will be held at the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company from two to five in the afternoon, with doors opening at noon. Join in for a day of music, fun, and remembrance. Donations will be accepted by the Montgomery Area Historical Society, and sandwiches and drinks will be made available by the fire company.
