Muncy Historical Society hosts art exhibition
MUNCY The sixth annual Regional Invitational Artists Exhibition and Sale will be held on Friday, November 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, November 3, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The show, at its new location, takes place in the Pennsdale Civic Center Social Hall, 261Village Road, Pennsdale, PA.
Friday night’s opening includes a reception and an opportunity to meet the artists and, on Saturday, Muncy Township Volunteer Fire Company personnel will offer a luncheon menu.
The show will feature talented artists in Central Pennsylvania. Many of them are exhibited and collected nationally; all of them share a close relationship with Muncy and the surrounding area. It includes a wide range of arts and craftsmanship, including photography, oil painting, jewelry, fashion, pottery, metal- and wood-working, quilting, mosaics, watercolor, sculpture, and home dcor. The show will be a rich and varied collection of original work along with signed and numbered limited-edition reproductions.
This year’s door prize is a framed, open edition print of “The Muncy Valley, 1858.” The original oil painting which is in the Muncy Historical Society’s collection was reproduced earlier this year in both canvas and paper options. All four options will be on display and available for purchase.
The exhibition benefits the Muncy Historical Society’s preservation efforts including its Heritage Park and Nature Trail Project currently underway in the Port Penn section of Muncy.
The Muncy Historical Society receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Additional arts funding support by Gary’s Furniture, 3 Factory Street, Picture Rocks and private contributors.
