Montgomery locals

By Staff | Feb 12, 2013

Even though I have the privilege of participating in and attending the annual PMEA District 8 Chorus festival every year, I am always amazed at the pride I feel for my profession as the event unfolds. One of our tri-town schools, East Lycoming, was this year’s festival host. As a recent host in Montgomery, I would like to thank the East Lycoming choral director, Brian Barckley, for the time he spent organizing and overseeing this festival.

Public education is struggling to maintain many of its programs, especially the Arts. I am grateful for the opportunities that our students are given in Montgomery and in our surrounding communities.

I urge you all to continue to support our area school programs as well as our young men and women who lend their talents to them. The amazingly beautiful voices that joined together this past weekend are a reminder of the work ethic that is still evident in today’s youth. As the spring concert and musical season approaches, seek out your area school productions and witness the great work that is happening in Lycoming County.
