March 2 is Dr. Seuss Day! Kids Need to Read is a website devoted to getting our children to read more. With today’s technology our children aren’t reading as much as they should outside of the classroom.
I was so happy to learn how to download the app for the E-book readers and get free books from the Muncy and Hughesville Libraries. And it goes quite quickly, reading books on my I-Pad. I can see where kids can get hooked reading with mobile devices.
I also enjoyed going to the Spirit of Dance event at the mall on Saturday morning. I did the Zumba with Megan at the YMCA, had my blood pressure checked, and was able to watch a real neat live cooking demo with Dani Sayah who also does the Walkin’ and Rockin’ strength building program at the Life Center every Monday morning. With February being heart healthy month, I was able to pick up lots of good ideas for toning and preventing cardiovascular disease. Dani’s recipes were time saving, tasty and very healthy. You can pick them up at the Life Center at the Mall, and while you are there look into the fitness programs that are offered. The YMCA has so many classes to choose from, you will be sure to find something within your physical endurance. Yoga is excellent, and classes are held every day during the week at different times to accommodate any fitness schedule.
