Hughesville locals

By Staff | Mar 26, 2013

When I think of Holy Week, it isn’t usually with thoughts of snow boots and warm clothing, but this year winter seems very reluctant to give up and give way to spring. I did see an Eastern Bluebird last weekend! Most of the robins I’ve seen seem determined to tough it out and get themselves ready for nesting, even though they have their feathers so fluffed up for warmth that they are round as a ball. Spring may be a bit slow in starting, but I am confident that it won’t be long until we can all be outdoors.

Bodine Park was a happy place last Saturday when dozens of children scoured the grounds for the many goodies that were to be found, courtesy of the Rotary Club’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Now that it is time for spring sports, the park, as well as the high school track, Little League fields, and AYSO soccer fields, will be resounding with the sounds of cheering fans, batting practice, and referee whistles. I encourage everyone to take some time to attend some of the games and see all the great athletic efforts of so many of our local youngsters.

Today from ten to noon there is a workshop at the East Lycoming Historical Society for anyone who is interested in being a tour guide. If you are interested call 584-2244 or 447-2838.
