Observe A National Day of Prayer
MUNCY – Americans are preparing to exercise their freedom to gather, worship and pray on Thursday, May 2 by observing the National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme, “Pray of America”, is based on Matthew 12:21 which reminds everyone that “In His Name the nations put their trust”.
Local observance of the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. on the Muncy High School front lawn (inclement weather the auditorium). Community pastors will lead intercessory prayer for the protection and healing of America. Everyone is welcome to attend this event honoring our Heavenly Father through worship and prayer.
The Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775, setting aside a day of prayer, predates the founding of The United States of America. Congress established an annual day of prayer in 1952. That law was amended in 1988 designating the first Thursday of May as the National Day of Prayer.
Barbara Williams said, “Because we have been one nation under God for more than two centuries, we have enjoyed His blessings and our individual liberties.”
