Montgomery locals
As we prepare for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, I encourage all of you to think about the true meaning of this observance. It is very easy for us to focus on a much needed long weekend, picnics, and the idea of summer being right around the corner. While I do wish you all a great weekend of family and fun, do your part to remember the people who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.
Many communities will be offering parades and other Memorial Day observances. Montgomery will be having their annual parade with a ceremony in the park to follow. Take some time out of the long weekend to support your community’s observances.
The Montgomery Track & Field team had great successes this past Saturday. We had athletes named as District champions as well as them earning a place in State competition. Keep reading for further information on the journey of these gifted athletes.
On another note, many communities are gearing up for Relay for Life events. Please contact me if you have a team participating in one or more of these walks.
I hope to hear from you soon on your upcoming spring events. The Memorial Day parade will form at 8:45 and start at 9:15 a.m. at the community park, and the American Legion Post 251 will have a service afterwards.
