Montgomery locals
Are we nearing the summer season or are we returning to winter? There have been many days as of late that leave me wondering. This weather has been extremely confusing. It appears that the heat wave is returning, though. Perhaps summer is on the horizon after all.
I hope that all of you had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend and that you took a moment to remember the true meaning of the holiday observance. Our area is holding another very meaningful event this coming Friday. “Relay for Life” will be held at the Hughesville High School and our surrounding communities are invited to attend. Students from Montgomery’s Virtuoso will be performing various songs as well as the National Anthem at the opening of the event.
In school news, Montgomery welcomes back its three state qualifiers in track as well as our Odyssey of the Mind team from its world competition in Michigan. Our OM team placed 12th against 52 national teams and 9 international teams. We are now in the home stretch as we prepare for finals and graduation.
I hope to hear from you soon on your upcoming June events.
Montgomery Area School District will hold its Commencement ceremony on Friday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the athletic complex. The annual Award’s Night for seniors will be held Thursday, June 6 at the same time and location.
