East Lycoming Historical Society Picnic and Pageantry June 17

The East Lycoming Historical Society will hold their annual picnic meeting Monday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Mt.Zion Lutheran Church, Beaver Lake Rd., Penn Township. Meat will be provided; bring casserole, beverage, and table service.

The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. with genealogist Robert Robb giving a short biography of his descendant, Civil War soldier John Robert Stevenson.

Educator and historian, Robert Webster will present the first annual Robert Webster Local History Award to a Hughesville High School senior. The historical society established the award in honor of Mr. Webster.

After the program and award presentation, a Civil War tribute will take place with a procession to the adjoining cemetery where nineteen Civil War soldiers are buried. Bagpiper Thomas Taylor will lead the procession, followed by flag bearers, community choir, bell ringer, and others.
