Montgomery locals
Rain, rain, go away.. I always enjoy the first week of summer break from school because I can finally get out into my yard and begin to clean up from the winter months. This year was especially important to me because it is our first full summer in our new home in Elimsport. The weather has not been cooperating with my plans, though. I have had to settle for a thorough cleaning inside the house. This is also very necessary, but difficult to do as my husband is in the middle of many home renovations.
Despite the weather, it has been a joy to watch my son as he discovers “country” living. He loves his bike rides as well as having a yard large enough to play sports. The move has been great for my family as well as for me. It has allowed me to get back in touch with my childhood community.
Welcome home to Ashleigh Keiper, Montgomery High School’s representative at this year’s Laurel Queen competition. Ashleigh is a recent graduate of Montgomery and will be attending Lycoming College in the fall.
Fireworks will be her in no time to celebrate the 4th of July. So far $3,000 worth of donations have come in to go towards the fireworks display.
Montgomery events
Montgomery is currently in the midst of its annual Fireman’s Carnival. The carnival will be running through June 22 and is located at the Montgomery carnival grounds. Food stands, games, and live entertainment will be available nightly. The carnival culminates with the Fireman’s Parade on Saturday, June 22. The parade will form at 4 p.m. and will begin moving at 5 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for best floats.
The Montgomery Public Library kicked off its summer reading program this past Wednesday. The theme this year is “Dig Into Reading”. The program will continue every Wednesday through August 7. All activities begin at 2 p.m. except for a children’s author visit to be held July 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Be sure to check your area churches for Bible School offerings. Both the Elimsport Baptist (June 17-21) and Elimsport United Methodist (June 24-28) churches are announcing their annual schools to be held over the next few weeks.
