The heat and humidity have returned. I hope you are all finding ways to stay cool. We finished our pool project just in time to help alleviate the rising temperatures. Remember to check on your elderly relatives as well as your pets in the intense heat.
Montgomery AYSO recently held its Soccer sign-ups for the fall season. AYSO officers would like to extend the invitation to play soccer to all children in the area and have extended their registration period to accommodate families who have been busy with their various summer activities. If interested, please contact Anne Evangelista or any Montgomery AYSO official.
Revitalize Montgomery continues to work to beautify our community. They are to be commended on their efforts. The committee continues to urge community members to attend their meetings as well as take part in their various projects. The next meeting is being held today, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Shirey’s Outdoor Supply in Montgomery. The meeting agenda includes a review of the Greenway Planting Project. Attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas.
The Montgomery Public Library will be holding a special author’s visit tonight at the library beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Library has begun its summer reading program. The theme this year is “Dig Into Reading”. The program will continue every Wednesday through August 7. All activities begin at 2 p.m. except for a children’s author visit to be held July 17 at 6:30 p.m.
The Montgomery Borough Council holds its meetings at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. Start time is 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Just bring them to New Covenant Assembly, 1270 Pinchtown Hill Rd., Montgomery on July 27 from 1-3 and trade them for what your family needs. No money involved! Doors open at 12 noon for set-up. St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church Route 405 Montgomery will be holding Vacation Bible School (Kingdom Rock) for ages 4 (by July) – 5th grade from Monday, July 29, to Friday August 2, 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Every summer I ask myself, “Where does the time go?” It is difficult to believe that stores are already displaying their back-to-school supplies and promotions. No doubt, there are many parents who have been counting down the days until the start of the next school year while children are doing all they can to make the most of the remaining days of summer vacation. Montgomery teachers received their schedules this past week and are busy planning their 2013/14 courses. I am very excited to be continuing the high school music and theatre program while adding a new course to the Broadcasting portion of my schedule – Web Journalism!
