Butterfly Day for everyone and a tour of its cycle
Join an annual celebration of butterflies on Sunday, September 8, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at PPL’s Montour Preserve in Washingtonville. This year’s activities will begin with a fun and informative program by Folk’s Butterfly Farm.
Sponsored by the Central Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association, this free program will include a tour of a butterfly’s life cycle, live caterpillars and butterflies. Then, participants will tag and release some monarch butterflies and end the afternoon with a craft for the kids. “This will be a great event for the entire family,” said Jon Beam.
Meet at the Montour Environmental Education Center. For directions, please visit www.pplpreserves.com, select “Montour” and then click on “Contacts and Directions.” For more information, contact the preserve at 570-437-3131 or jdbeam@pplweb.com.
