Motorcycle ride to benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk
LAIRDSVILLE – The second Making Strides Against Breast Cancer benefit ride will take place Aug. 31 at the Lairdsville Community Volunteer Fire Hall. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. and the ride will leave promptly at 11:30 a.m.
Cars and trucks also are welcome. All funds raised stay local and will benefit the fourth annual Making Strides Walk, which will be held Oct. 12 in Indian Park, Montoursville. Those who are interested in signing up for the walk may do so at www.makingstrideswalk.org/lycoming.
This noncompetitive, fundraising event will unite the community in celebrating breast cancer survivors, educating men and women about the importance of early detection and prevention, and raising money to fund lifesaving research and supporting programs that will further the progress to cure this disease, according to 2013 Chair Kimberlee Williams, of Hughesville.
The 2013 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk in Lycoming County is being sponsored by Susquehanna Health, Heller’s Gas and Bath Fitter.
After the ride, food and refreshments will be available in the fire hall, along with raffles and a 50-50. T-shirts will be available, and for more information, contact Bonnie Lunger at 584-5518 or Sara Jordan at 584-2370.
