Hughesville locals
Summer continues to be an up and down kind of season, doesn’t it? Readers must get a chuckle at the difference between what I have written and the outdoor conditions when the newspaper actually hits the street. I am just very glad for air-conditioning and swimming pools, and will be reluctant to put either one away until we can be more confident that the hot, humid, tropical air masses are not going to return until next summer.
There are so many fun things coming up in the Hughesville area over the next couple of weeks!
This weekend there are two major events that will provide much enjoyment for folks of all ages. The Annual Lime Bluff Park Community Festival will have such a variety of things to see and do that you should be prepared to spend the day! There will be live music as well as a DJ with old favorites, a historical presentation about the W & NB Railroad which passed through the area where the park is located, rescued pets from the SPCA, tournaments in disc golf, horse shoes, and bocci ball, antique and street cars on display, and booths featuring local crafters and artisans.
Nearby, on the Lycoming County Fairground, also this Saturday will be the PA Energy Games all-day festival. This event, sponsored by a wide variety of local entities, including the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau, gas companies, heavy equipment suppliers, and many more, is held to showcase Home-grown Energy Production, Delivery & Conservation. There will be energy exhibits, educational displays, food, fireworks, kids’ activities, a truck show, and heavy equipment rodeo. The live concert featuring Clay Walker will begin at 5:30 p.m. Obviously, Saturday is one day when there is no chance to be bored!
While you are updating your calendar, check either the school district website, the Shopper, or the Luminary to get fall sports schedules. It’s so much fun to see the student athletes and band perform, and your support means a lot to the kids. Take in a game or match soon the evening weather has been wonderful for sitting out in comfortable clothing.
