Montgomery locals
I hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. To me, this weekend always signifies the “unofficial” end of summer and beginning of fall. I look forward to helping the Montgomery community to highlight its upcoming events.
School is back in session. With the onset of a new school year comes the opportunity to support your local athletes and band members in our fall sports programs. We hope to see you at a game.
There will be no September Breakfast at the Oak Grove Community Center.
The Montgomery Elementary School held an Open House on Wednesday, September 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Parents came with their children and met their teachers. The library book fair was also open during the Open House.
Revitalize Montgomery continues to work to beautify our community. They are to be commended on their efforts. The committee encourages community members to attend their meetings as well as take part in their various projects.
The Montgomery Area Historical Society is working with the Montgomery Area Public Library to feature historical and/or community window displays. Current photos highlight summer events held in the borough and surrounding area.
The Montgomery Borough Council holds its meetings at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. Start time is 6:30PM. The public is encouraged to attend. The September meeting will be held on the 10th.
Also, take a moment to visit the Montgomery Borough website (www.montgomeryborough.org). On the site you will find interesting information about the history of our town as well as news concerning the Watershed project and Revitalization project.

Montgomery events
On Friday, Sept. 6 there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Montgomery Park at 12:15 p.m. to celebrate a recently established riparian buffer to beautify the park and create a habitat and filter runoff. The public and community are invited to share this celebration to honor this project.
The Elimsport Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be a parade to kick off the event beginning at 11:00 a.m.
