Montgomery locals
I just returned from a soccer game at Montgomery Park. Fall is in the air and it is beautiful to see the landscaping work from the Revitalize Montgomery committee as you enter both the soccer and baseball fields.
It is “Spirit Week” in the halls of Montgomery. Students from Pre-K to grade 12 are celebrating together for the first time this year in preparation for our annual Homecoming festivities. Students are showing school pride with different dress-up days, door decorating contests and pep rallies. The week culminates with a Red and White day on Friday and the eagerly anticipated “Shoe” football game in the evening between Montgomery and Muncy. The game begins at 7:00 p.m. at Raider Field.
There will be no September Breakfast at the Oak Grove Community Center.
The Montgomery Area School District will be holding its monthly school board meeting on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room.
The Elimsport Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be a parade to kick off the event beginning at 11:00 a.m. The McNett Country band will perform from 2-4 p.m. The Festival will be held on the Elimsport United Methodist Church grounds on Rt. 44 in Allenwood.
Revitalize Montgomery continues to work to beautify our community. The team is to be commended for their efforts. The “Revitalize Montgomery” team will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 18th at Shirey’s Outdoor Supply on Main Street, in Montgomery. There will be two meeting times. The morning meeting will be at 10 a.m., and an afternoon meeting at 4 p.m. The afternoon meeting will enable students and others to attend and share their ideas. The committee encourages community members to attend as well as take part in their various projects.
The Montgomery Area Historical Society is working with the Montgomery Area Public Library to feature historical and/or community window displays. Current photos highlight summer events held in the borough and surrounding area.
The Montgomery Borough Council holds its meetings at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. Start time is 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. The September meeting will be held on the 10th.
